Dogwood Readers Award

Interested in getting involved within MASL?  Consider joining the Dogwood Committee! 

The Dogwood Committee is the newest of the MASL Readers Awards family and was created in 2020.  The vision of the Dogwood Committee is to provide children of Missouri with a recommended reading list of nonfiction titles that will interest them and enrich their lives. As librarians, we also want to recognize and honor outstanding works in children’s nonfiction.  The inaugural listing of titles on the Dogwood Committee was announced earlier this year and may be found on the Dogwood website at https://maslonline.org/dogwood-readers-award/.

About the Dogwood Readers Award

Vision

The vision of the Missouri Dogwood Outstanding Nonfiction Committee is to provide children of Missouri with a recommended reading list of nonfiction titles that will interest them and enrich their lives. As librarians, we also want to recognize and honor outstanding works in children’s nonfiction.

Criteria

Criteria for Dogwood nominees is as follows:

  • Books will be of interest to a range of readers in grades PreK-12
  • Books will connect young readers in Missouri with quality non-fiction books that will broaden their knowledge of the world and enrich their reading experiences.
  • Author may be from any country
