Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Finance

Chair: Tamie Williams, Neosho School District
Chair: Matt King, Discovery Elementary, Orchard Farm School District

The Finance Committee shall have responsibility of preparing the annual budget for presentation to the Association in consultation with the First Vice-President/President Elect, general oversight of financial operations, and any other duties relating to financial and budgetary matters established in the Policies and Procedures of the Committee.


Governance

Chair: Julie Jamieson, Fort Zumwalt Schools

The Governance Committee shall have responsibility for reviewing the governing documents, making recommendations for amendments and revisions, updating the Policies and Procedures, and any other duties relating to Association governance established in the Policies and Procedures of the Committee.


Legislative/Advocacy

Chair: Robyn Howell, Macon County R-1 Schools

The Committee shall have the responsibility for development and oversight of the legislative platform and any duties or responsibilities related to legislative advocacy established in the Policies and Procedures of the Committee.  View the Advocacy Committee Handbook here.


Nominations

Chair: Melissa Corey, Robidoux Middle School, St. Joseph School District

The Nominations Committee shall have responsibility for the nomination of elected officers and any other duties established in the Policies and Procedures of the Committee.


Professional Education

Chair: Hope Hunter, St. James R1 Schools
Chair: Jenn Baldwin, East Newton High School, East Newton R-VI School District

The Professional Education Committee shall have responsibility for the development and oversight of professional education programs and any other duties established in the Policies and Procedures of the Committee. The AASL Affiliate Assembly Delegate, who serves as Co-Chair of the Professional Education Committee, shall assist with all materials related to Intellectual Freedom and challenged materials. The Second Vice-President, who serves as an Ex-Officio member of the Committee, shall have responsibility for the Fall Seminar.

  • Intellectual Freedom Committee

Chair: Hope Hunter, St. James R1 Schools

The Intellectual Freedom Committee (IFC) recommends such steps as may be necessary to safeguard the rights of library users, libraries, and librarians, in accordance with the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and the Library Bill of Rights as adopted by the ALA Council. The IFC works closely with the Office of Intellectual Freedom and with other units and officers of the Association in matters touching intellectual freedom and censorship.

  • Fall Professional Development Day Committee

Chair: Jenn Baldwin, East Newton High School, East Newton R-VI School District

The Fall Professional Development Day Committee shall have the responsibility of planning and implementing the logistical, procedural and informational aspects of the Fall Professional Development Day program, and any other duties relating to the Fall Professional Development Day.


Public Relations

Chair: Ericka Harris, Clayton Schools

The Public Relations Committee shall have responsibility for the public relations and publicity program, and any other duties relating to public relations and publicity established in the Policies and Procedures of the Committee.


Membership/New Members

Chair: Marlana Howerton, Laclede County R-1 Schools

The New Members Committee shall have responsibility for educating new members on the association’s policy and procedure. In addition, the committee will be responsible for membership recruitment and retention, and any other duties relating to association membership.


Readers Awards

  • Gateway Readers Award

Chair: Lorin Blackburn Theirfelder, Sedalia 200 School District

The Gateway Readers Award Committee shall have responsibility for the coordination and administration of the Gateway Readers Award, and any other duties relating to the award established in the Policies and Procedures of the Committee.

  • Mark Twain Readers

Chair: Erin McCurdy, St. Joseph School District

The Mark Twain Readers Committee shall have responsibility for the coordination and administration of the Mark Twain Readers Award and any other duties relating to the award established in the Policies and Procedures of the Committee.

  • Show Me Readers

Chair: Savannah Essary, Cassville School District

The Show Me Readers Committee shall have responsibility for the coordination and administration of the Show Me Readers Award, and any other duties relating to the award established in the Policies and Procedures of the Committee.

  • Truman Readers Award

Chair: Ericka Alten, Columbia School District

The Truman Readers Award Committee shall have responsibility for the coordination and administration of the Truman Readers Award, and any other duties relating to the award established in the Policies and Procedures of the Committee.

  • Dogwood Readers Award

Chair: Amber Hulstine, Webb City R-VII School District

The Dogwood Readers Award Committee shall have responsibility for the coordination and administration of the Dogwood Readers Award, and any other duties relating to the award established in the Policies and Procedures of the Committee.

Scholarships, Grants and Recognitions

Chair: Dawn Moore, Camdenton School District

The Scholarships, Grants and Recognition Committee shall have responsibility for administering the Association’s program of Awards, Grants and Recognitions as established in the Policies and Procedures of the Committee – SGR Policies and Procedures.


Spring Conference

Chair: Kirsten Shaw, Warrensburg Schools & Kelley Powers, Mehlville School District
