MLA Announces 2019 Missouri Building Block Picture Book Award Winner

The Missouri Library Association announces the winner of the 2019 Missouri Building Block Picture Book Award!

The children of Missouri have spoken, selecting Can I Be Your Dog by Troy Cummings as the winner! About 22, 000 preschool and kindergarten voters participated this year.

The top five books and the number of votes are listed below.

1. Can I Be Your Dog by Troy Cummings– 4,598 votes
2. Cookiesaurus Rex by Amy Fellner Dominy; Illus. by Nate Evans—3,719 votes
3. I Just Ate My Friend by Heidi McKinnon– 2,802 votes
4. Beware Of The Monster by Michael Escoffier; Illus. by Amandine Piu–2,347 votes
5. Where Is Bear by Jonathan Bentley–1882 votes
